Mill Valley, CA – The Executive Committee of the Mill Valley Awards for Creative Achievement has announced the recipients of the 2017 Milley Awards, which will be presented at the annual Milleys Dinner held Sunday, October 22, 2017, at the Mill Valley Community Center.
Milley recipients are selected by a panel of judges from nominations received from the community, based on one or more of three criteria:
• Outstanding achievement in creating, performing or teaching in the Arts. 

• Demonstration of a significant body of work. 

• Service to the arts community. 
Recipients must either be born in Mill Valley, have gone to school there, work there or have made their home in the town. 
The Milley recipients and their categories for 2017 are: 
! Gini Wilson for Musical Arts. Gini Wilson is a gifted pianist and composer as well as an admired piano teacher. Known as “The Duchess,” she is the founder of the legendary and innovative San Francisco Chamber Jazz Quartet (SFCJQ), which plays concerts and jazz festivals in California, and has a national and international radio presence. Gini is also a successful recording artist of wide-ranging works. In the ‘70s and ‘80s, she was a captivating and popular supper club musician at then-landmark SF restaurants Stars and Moose’s, and continues to the present day playing restaurants, hotels and music clubs. As a private piano instructor, she has influenced hundreds of young musicians from her home studio in Tam Valley, where she and her husband have lived for 30 years. Website:
